#87: Easter dawn

‘Veil after veil of thin dusky gauze is lifted, and by degrees the forms and colours of things are restored to them, and we watch the dawn remaking the world in its antique pattern.’
Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray

Every Easter, the church on the hill above my parents’ house has an early morning service. An Easter bonfire is lit and all those brave enough to venture out at that time are then rewarded with a huge breakfast of coffee, bacon rolls and croissants.

This year, the early Easter and the start of British Summer Time meant that the bonfire was lit before dawn. Damn, it was early and cold but, oh my gosh, it was beautiful!
